A $1,000 donation from Church of the Ascension Mistletoe Mart and a $500 gift from Patapsco United Methodist Church in honor of Pastor Barbara Allen were among the 30 donations totaling $4,765 most recently received for the 2018 Holiday Hope campaign. To date, more than $27,500 has been raised with a little more than two weeks left until Christmas to meet our $120,000 goal.

Among the latest donations received were $300 from Paul and Anne Capriolo; $300 from Ronald and Janice Martin in memory of Robert and Catherine Martin, and Floyd Rimbey; $200 from Terry and Janet Crushong in memory of Thomas Crushong and Jane Crushong; $200 from Terry Crushong and Janet Crushong in memory of Donald Allen McCall and David Andrew McCall (my brothers); $200 from Nancy Hunter in memory of Stanley Hunter; $150 from Mr. and Mrs. Tom Caswell; and $120 from WAGS — the Wayne Avenue Girls.


Additional contributions included $100 from Iva and Bradley Martin in memory of Margaret and Burnell Barnhart and Ruth and Eldridge Martin; $100 from June Shauck in memory of Donald Shauck; $100 from Lavina Pfefferkorn in memory of Robert Pfefferkorn and Anne Magee; $100 from John and Kitty Moro in memory of Larry Putgenter Sr.; $100 from Wendall and Ann Sisler in memory of Wendy Ann Young; $100 from Brenda Ecker in memory of Ed Ecker; $100 from Lois Mathis in memory of Jimmy Mathis; $100 from Nick and Bunny St. Amant; $100 from Mike and Marry Blizzard; $50 from Lynn Kehoe George in memory of Richard and Ann Clingan Kehoe; $50 from Lorna Rice in memory of Dotty Stottlemyer; $50 from Darlene Thomas; and nine anonymous gifts totaling $745.

Holiday Hope is an annual campaign, now in its 20th year, in which the Carroll County Times teams up with Carroll Food Sunday, Neighbors in Need Year Round, Carroll Hospice, Access Carroll and The Shepherd's Staff to help the less fortunate during the holidays. This year's goal is to raise $120,000 for the five partner charities by Christmas.

Donations may also be dropped off at Carroll Community Bank branches in Westminster and Eldersburg.

Carroll County Food Sunday operates food banks for the county's needy from locations in Westminster, Taneytown and Eldersburg.

Neighbors in Need Year Round, administered through Human Services Programs of Carroll County Inc., provides assistance with rent, essential utilities and security deposits for people struggling to maintain their housing.

Carroll Hospice provides palliative care and support services to people with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Access Carroll offers integrated health care services on a sliding fee scale to uninsured and low-income residents to help patients maintain good health and manage illnesses.

The Shepherd's Staff is a Christian outreach and support center serving those in need and encouraging pathways to self-sufficiency.
