Three large donations have helped push the Holiday Hope total to more than $92,000 with just a few days left before Christmas to reach our goal.

The latest donations included $1,750 from friends and family of Jordan Davis in his memory, $1,500 from Audrey Trumpower in memory of Harold Trumpower and $1,000 from Shiloh United Methodist Church.


Holiday Hope is an annual campaign in which the Carroll County Times teams up with Access Carroll, Carroll Food Sunday, Neighbors in Need Year Round, Carroll Hospice and The Shepherd's Staff to help the less fortunate during the holidays. This year’s goal is to raise $110,000 for the five partner charities by Christmas.

Also received was $550 from M. Frank Baile in memory of Maurice F. and Virginia Baile, Maurice H. and Ethel Baile-Craun, Nancy A. Tenny and military veterans, $500 from Jim and Arlene Fitze in memory of “family and friends we’ve loved and lost,” $400 from Nancy T. Barnes in memory of Sewell J. Barnes, $250 from Phyllis Bassler in memory of Robert E. Bassler Sr., $150 in memory of Marie and Edward Ritz and Wayne Kellam, $100 from Nancy Geary in memory of Pearl Helwig, Thomas Lambert and Dick Reese, $100 from Steve and Mary Hayes in memory of Bernard and Alta Armacost, $100 from Mr. and Mrs. Charles Odell in memory of Mary Ellen Weyand, $100 in memory of Patricia Ann Otto, $100 from PACU/Peri-op staff in honor of Linda Grogan and Lisa Burmeister, and $100 in honor of the Sanibel Sisters.

Contributions of $75 from Glenn and Barb Dusman in memory of Miss Pat and Skip Carr, $50 from Thor and Dorothy Dalebo in memory of Thor Odin Dalebo, $50 in memory of Guy, Hazel, Carl, Neal and Butch Owings, $50 from Linda Smith in memory of Bill Smith, $25 from Carole in memory of Jim Spence, and 21 anonymous donations for $1,480 were also received, bringing the total amount raised to $92,148.75.

This year, Carroll Community Bank is assisting the Times in processing donations. The Shepherd's Staff is a Christian outreach and support center serving those in need and encouraging pathways to self-sufficiency.

Carroll Hospice provides palliative care and support services to people with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Neighbors in Need Year Round, administered through Human Services Programs of Carroll County Inc., provides assistance with rent, essential utilities and security deposits for people struggling to maintain their housing.

Carroll County Food Sunday operates food banks for the county's needy from locations in Westminster, Taneytown and Eldersburg.

Access Carroll offers integrated health care services on a sliding fee scale to uninsured and low-income residents to help patients maintain good health and manage illnesses.
