Hannah Kurek, of Millers, is volunteering through the Lebanon Valley Education Partnership to encourage other, younger students to enroll in college. Kurek is a graduate of Manchester Valley High School and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education and special education. LVEP was established in 1989 between Lebanon Valley College, Annville, Pa., and the Lebanon School District to encourage children in the city of Lebanon to study, stay in school, and aspire to attend college. Beginning in the eighth grade, students are identified as partners in the program. Students such as Kurek serve as mentors throughout the students' high school years.

Loyola University Maryland welcomed the members of its class of 2020, including Mikaela Canedo, Sykesville; Michael Richardson, of Westminster; Hannah Seeley, of Hampstead; Emily Bennett, of Westminster; Alexa Delerme, of Hampstead; Ocean Dressel, of Mount Airy; Alicia Hillis, of Sykesville; Madeline Farley, of Eldersburg; Kira Mitchell, of Manchester; and Melody Kuzu, of Sykesville.

Yonahga Stickles, of Sykesville, is one of the more than 180 new students who entered Simpson University, Redding, Calif., this fall.

The following students were inducted into Phi Eta Sigma national freshman honor society at Salisbury University: Abigail Miller, sophomore elementary education major, member of the Education Club and Phi Mu sorority, is a 2015 graduate of Liberty High School. Creason Schafer, sophomore nursing major, member of CRU, is a 2015 graduate of Westminster High School. Madison Baber, sophomore elementary education major, member of CRU, an SU Community Mentor, and an executive member of the Education Club, is a 2015 graduate of Winters Mill High School. Nicole Goheen, sophomore elementary education major, member of the Phi Mu fraternity and Education Club, and vice president of Students Helping Honduras, is a 2015 graduate of Liberty High School. Serenity Haughwout, sophomore early education major, member of SU's Best Buddies and Habitat for Humanity organizations, dean's list student and a Christopher Scholars Program in Education scholarship recipient, of Hampstead, and a 2015 graduate of Hereford High School. Shannon McHenry, sophomore communication arts major, member of the Bellavance Honors Program and Phi Mu fraternity, dean's list student, is a 2015 graduate of North Carroll High School.

Abbey Rigney, of Hampstead, is field producer for Frostburg State University's student-run "The Frostburg Experience" on FSU-TV3, a student-managed TV channel. The small crew ventures out to chat with people at Frostburg events, editing interviews on the spot and posting them immediately on TV3's social network profiles. Rigney, a mass communication major and audio and video production minor, helps to identify people to interview for the segments and scouts shoot locations.

Lindsey Weishaar, of Sykesville, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2016 semester at Stevenson University. Students who earn dean's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a grade point average of a 3.50 or better. A member of the university's swim team, Weishaar was also honored alongside her team as a Scholar All-American by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association. In order to be recognized, the entire team must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0; the Mustangs achieved a combined GPA of 3.44.
