Lord wins state oration contest

Westminster High School sophomore Allison Lord was declared the state winner of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Rumbaugh Orations Program during the annual meeting of the Maryland Society SAR in Frederick on Aril 13. She was named the Westminster Chapter SAR winner at its March meeting. The Rumbaugh Oration Contest is open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors who perform an original oration about an event, person, or ideal associated with the American Revolution. She will compete in the national SAR contest against state winners from across the country in July 2019 in Costa Mesa, California.

At the same state meeting, Allison received an award for tying for third place in the SAR's Knight Essay Contest at the state level. This contest is open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors at public, private and home schools who write an essay about an event, person or ideal associated with the American Revolution or the U.S. Constitution.
