Alexa Hayman, a junior at Westminster High School, has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence from the 2018 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, signifying that she was among the top 10 percent of all applicants from the state of Maryland this year. Additionally, based on her volunteer hours, Hayman has received the President's Volunteer Service Award, which includes a letter and certificate from the White House.

Hayman has earned 1,110.5 service-learning hours through a variety of community and volunteer opportunities, including interning with the Children's Chorus of Carroll County, participating in ENCORE, volunteering at Camp Invention, and teaching swim lessons at the YMCA. She also has completed service projects through her church, assisted teachers with classroom set-up, and served as a student marshal at events at Westminster High School.
