Nolan Chase, a construction management major from Westminster, received a bachelor's degree at the May 5 commencement at Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Florida.

Tayler Schussler, of Westminster, received a Master of Science in public relations on May 12 from Quinnipiac University, Hamden , Connecticut.

Christina Marie VanWingerden, of Keymar, graduated from Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama, in recent commencement exercises. VanWingerden earned a Bachelor of Science cum laude in engineering physics from Howard College: Arts/Sciences.

Morgen Ricketts, of Woodbine, earned a master's degree from Georgia State University, Atlanta, George, in May.

Tulane University , New Orleans, Louisiana, awarded degrees to nearly 3,000 graduates on May 19, including local students Silas Buck, of Marriottsville, Bachelor of Science from School of Science & Engineering; and Lauren Cronin, of Sykesville, Bachelor of Science public health from School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine.

David Kreinar, of Westminster; and Alex Kvech, of Woodbine, earned spots on spring 2018 dean's list at the University of Dayton, in Ohio. Dean's list students must achieve a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Local students have been named to the University of Delaware dean's list for the spring 2018 semester: Sarah Ashwood, of Manchester ; Olivia Baumgardner, of Sykesville; Katherine Brewster, of Manchester; Payton Brown, of Sykesville; Abigail Butler, of Marriottsville; Jessica Clark, of Sykesville; Meghan Coyne, of Westminster; Sara Dietz, of Woodbine; Alexandra Ecott, of Mount Airy; Connor Fiorino, of Manchester; Michael Fitzgerald, of Sykesville; Justin Howes, of Sykesville; Sara Kubik, of Mount Airy; Tyler Lieberman, of Sykesville; Jillian Luetje, of Union Bridge; Bria Masters, of Westminster; Emily Mongold, of Sykesville; Lauren Repp, of Sykesville; Abigail Rogers, of Upperco; Lauren Weems, of Mount Airy; Prescott Weishaar, of Westminster; George Wieber, of Sykesville; Emma Zecher-Freeman, of Mount Airy. Dean's list students must be enrolled full time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above on a 4.0 scale for the semester.

The following students were named to the dean's list for the spring 2018 semester at Grove City College, in Pennsylvania: Michaela Roettger, of Finksburg, freshman biology/health major, high distinction; Samuel Roettger, of Finksburg, freshman conservation biology major, distinction; Hannah Finley, of Mount Airy, a senior preK-4 elementary education major, distinction; Joel Kehr, of Mount Airy, junior marketing major; Katie Shilling, of Mount Airy, senior English major, distinction; Wade Chapline, of New Windsor , junior mechanical engineering major, high distinction; James Rushe, of Eldersburg, senior English and secondary education certification major, high distinction.

The following local residents were among the 578 students who received degrees during the commencement exercises at Grove City College, Pennsylvania, on May 19: Hannah Finley, of Mount Airy; Katie Shilling, of Mount Airy; Jonathan Bensing, of Sykesville; and Deion Minor, of Sykesville.

Blake VanWingerden, of Keymar; and Christina VanWingerden, of Keymar, were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama. Dean's list students must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework.

Christine Lee, of Sykesville, was named to the winter 2018 dean's list at Transylvania University, Lexington, Kentucky. To be named to the list, a student must achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average during the term.

Nearly 200 student-athletes at Lebanon Valley College, Annville, Pennsylvania, were named to the Middle Atlantic Conference's (MAC) winter and spring academic honor roll, including: Samantha Bost, of Eldersburg, graduate of Liberty High School, member of women's tennis team, and is pursuing a Doctor of physical therapy in physical therapy. Bost was also named to the Spring Academic All-MAC Team, earned a MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week honor in late March, and was named MAC Commonwealth First-Team All-Conference this spring. Hannah Kurek, of Millers, graduate of Manchester Valley High School, member of women's indoor/outdoor track and field team, and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education and special education. Kristina Maleski, of Mount Airy, graduate of South Carroll High School, member of the women's lacrosse team, and received a Bachelor of Science in health science. Alexa Windsor, of Union Bridge, graduate of Walkersville High School, member of the softball team, and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience.

Lauren Reck, of Manchester, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Castleton University, in Vermont, following the successful completion of the spring semester in May. The school's commencement ceremony was held May 12.
