The Gamber and Community Fire Company, in cooperation with the Oscar Brothers family, is offering a four-year college scholarship for up to $12,500 maximum payout per student over four years, for tuition and books only. Maintaining honors can earn recipients an extra $500 per semester when submitted with the appropriate documentation.
The Oscar Brothers Memorial Scholarship Fund is open to students from Carroll County high schools as well as students from any other private or home-school program as long as their primary residence is within the "first-due" geographical area serviced by the Gamber and Community Fire Company. A map of the district is available at www.gambervfd.org. Financial need will be a primary consideration for recipients. Applicants must provide the most recent total family income plus the number of children in the family.
A minimum course load of 12 credit hours per semester is required, and students must maintain a 2.5 minimum grade point average in order to remain eligible for funding each semester for the entire four years. Students attending two-year programs are also welcome to apply and must also maintain a 2.5 grade point average to remain eligible. Student must perform 40 hours of community service during each year of eligibility, preferably within the Gamber & Community Fire Company service area.
The family and the fire company reserve the right to accept or decline any or all applicants, and all decisions are final.
