A Manchester Valley High School teacher took the top honor for a Carroll County educator this year.
Tina Thomen, an English teacher and English Department chair/content liaison at the school, was named the Carroll County 2018 Teacher of the Year during the Board of Education's employee recognition ceremony on Thursday, according to a news release from the school system.
Prior to working in the field of education, Thomen worked in the finance industry, according to the release. She began her teaching career as a substitute teacher for Carroll County Public Schools in 2005 and, from 2007 to 2009, she was an English teacher at Liberty High School. Later in 2009, she started teaching English at Manchester Valley High
Thomenwas chosen from a group of eight candidates who were recognized last month with Outstanding Teachers Awards.
