The Carroll County Public Schools Outdoor School received a state award for its environmental education, management practices and community engagement.

The school received a Sustainable Maryland Green Center award from the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education, according to a news release from the school system. Outdoor school has been a Green Center for more than 16 years, according to the release.

The award was presented during the Green School Youth Summit at Sandy Point Park, according to the release. In addition to receiving the award, the Outdoor School instructional team participated as an exhibitor at the event and taught students from around the state about backyard diversity.
