Arts Council awards $7,000 in college scholarships

The Carroll County Arts Council awarded seven high school seniors a $1,000 college scholarship to continue their studies in the arts. The Tevis College Art Scholarships are awarded in memory of Dottie Tevis, to help young artists achieve their educational goals. Recipients are selected by a panel from their own school and awards are based on artistic promise.

The following students received scholarships: Natalie Poulton, Century High School, attending Millersville University, art education; Kaeley Craney, Francis Scott Key High School, attending Messiah College, music education; Natalie Thornton, Liberty High School, attending Drexel University, film and video production; Carter Cigrang, Manchester Valley High School, attending Messiah College, studio art; Garrett Zanin, South Carroll High School, attending Rhode Island School of Design, illustration; Jessica Geisler, Westminster High School, attending Nazareth College, music education; and Sean Gore, Winters Mill High School, attending Savannah College of Art and Design, photography.
