Firefighters were able to quickly control an attic fire in the 1300 block of N. Main St. in Hampstead on Friday morning. According to Bradley Wright, a spokesman for the Hampstead volunteer fire company, firefighters responded to a report of smoke from a passersby at about 8:13 a.m. Arriving units, finding no one at home, made forced entry to the house and found a small fire in the attic. Responders from fire companies in Hampstead, Manchester, Lineboro, Westminster and Upperco in Baltimore County were able to extinguish the fire in about 10 minutes, he said. No one was injured, he said, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating.
