A mother and daughter who are currently enrolled as students at Carroll Community College represented students from Maryland’s 16 community colleges as the keynote speakers at Student Advocacy Day in Annapolis. The event, Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, was an opportunity for hundreds of community college students from around the state to meet with legislators and bring important issues in higher education to their attention. The Maryland Community College Activities Directors Association selected Carroll students Marta Cruz and her daughter Emily Rosado-Cruz as this year’s student speakers. They shared the challenges their family faced while trying to achieve their dreams of obtaining degrees. College President Dr. James D. Ball also attended.
