Since first winning office on the Carroll County Board of Education and then as Republican Delegate from Carroll County, I have maintained a solid reputation for decisive, effective, and conservative leadership and tireless constituent service. My promise of Listening, Taking Action and Getting Results has been kept throughout my years of service.
During my tenure in Annapolis, leadership, experience and drive have placed me in the forefront of the conservative fight against government over-regulation and the "tax and spend" culture of state government. The billions of dollars in increased taxes and the wave of government over-regulation that has engulfed Annapolis over the last 8 years is way out of control. Our families and retirees have been crushed with new taxes.
I voted against all of O'Malley's taxes and fees and signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, which opposes any and all efforts to increase taxes. I also successfully led the effort to reduce the Maryland Estate Tax and spearheaded the effort in Carroll County to eliminate the "Rain Tax" through a collaborative effort with the county and House leadership. I have fought to gain tax relief for our retirees and veterans, and for quality schools.
I have the personal, professional and political experience needed to be a champion for the conservative values of our community.
Service to our community has always been important to our family. Mark, my husband of 30 years, and I raised our three children-Heather, Stacey and Brian- in Carroll County and they all graduated from CCPS. My early years were filled as P.T.A. volunteer, youth soccer coach, and Sunday school teacher. I currently serve on the Carroll Hospice Board, the Community Advisory Committee for Carroll Lutheran Village, the Board of Directors for Wesley Freedom United Methodist Early Years Learning Center, and as program director for the Freedom District Lions Club.
I am one of the few legislators in Annapolis with actual business experience, working as accountant and advisor to both large and small businesses. This is a much needed skill set lacking in our Legislature-the ability to bring solutions and fiscal discipline to our state.
Restoring Maryland's economic competitiveness to grow jobs is my priority. Championing tax and regulatory reform, making Maryland a "Right-to-Work" state, and my pro-business voting record, have earned an endorsement from the National Federation of Independent Business, the John Shaw Award and a 100% rating from Maryland Business for Responsible Government.
I voted against the implementation of ObamaCare and was appointed to serve on the Oversight Committee for the Maryland Health Exchange to investigate the disastrous rollout. We need to replace ObamaCare and focus on giving patients control of their own healthcare decisions and enact real medical malpractice reform.
Protecting our liberties and freedoms and restoring limited, Constitutional government to Maryland has been the foundation for my efforts in the Legislature. I am a strong supporter of our 2nd Amendment rights and have been endorsed by the National Rifle Association in every election, and have an A+ rating from the Carroll County Sportsmen's Association. I have also been endorsed by Maryland Right to Life and the Maryland Farm Bureau.
I have fought the gas tax increase, worked to direct revenues to roads and bridges and not mass transit projects, and worked to protect the Transportation Trust Fund from O'Malley's raids. I voted against raiding our teacher's pension plan, in-state tuition for illegal aliens, and the "bathroom bill".
We don't need another government program to fix the problems in our state as much as we need relief from current policies. I have been in the forefront of offering common-sense solutions to the challenges our state faces. I serve as the Chair of the Carroll County House Delegation, Deputy Minority Whip and Vice Chair of the Western Maryland Delegation.
I am always mindful that this elected office belongs to our community and I am committed to communication with, and availability to those I serve. My home phone number and e-mail are widely available and I value each and every opportunity I have to speak with my constituents.
My voting record and accomplishments are available on my website www.susankrebs.com. I would be honored to have your vote in the Republican Primary on June 24th.
