Two Mount Airy residents charged with neglect of minor

Two Mount Airy residents were arrested and charged with neglect of a minor, and the father was charged with second-degree child abuse, according to electronic court residents.
Joseph Randolph Bostic, 37, of the 4300 block of Ridge Road in Mount Airy, was charged with second-degree child abuse, second-degree assault and neglect of a minor, according to electronic court records.
As of 5 p.m. Friday, he was being held at the Carroll County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond, according to a detention center spokeswoman.
He is accused of allegedly kicking his child, according to charging documents.
Patsy Lynn Bostic, 31, of the same address, was charged with second-degree assault, accessory after the fact of second-degree child abuse and neglect of a minor, according to electronic court records.
According to electronic court records, Joseph Bostic took an Alford plea, a form of a guilty plea in which the defendant maintains their innocence but admits the state has enough evidence to convict them, and was found guilty of second-degree child abuse May 22, 2013. He was given an 18-month sentence, all of which was suspended, and two years of supervised probation, according to the records.
