Westminster library branch

Tuesday

Story Pals - Bathtime: 10 a.m. For ages 2-3. A theme-based story time featuring interactive and age-appropriate stories, songs, fingerplays, and activities. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

Read and Play: 11 a.m. For ages Birth-24 Months. A story time featuring lap games, tickles, bounces, and rhymes followed by a playgroup for meeting and mingling. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

Evening Story Time - Bathtime: 7 p.m. For All Ages. End your day in a special way. This story time, open to all ages, introduces stories through books, songs, and activities. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Medicare 101: 4 p.m. For Adults. Are you eligible for Medicare in the coming months? Do you already have Medicare and want to learn more? Join us for a free 1 hour workshop that will include the four parts of Medicare and how they work, Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans, find out if you qualify for Medicare Savings Programs (all Savings Programs are not low-income programs), free preventive services offered by Medicare, and learn how to protect yourself from healthcare fraud. Presented by Tina Herrero-Backe, SHIP/SMP Coordinator.

Year-Round Family Story Time - Bathtime: 1 p.m. For All Ages. An open invitation. This weekly story time, open to all ages, introduces stories through books, songs, and activities. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Sudoku 101: 7 p.m. For ages 12-Adults. Solving sudoku puzzles is easier than it looks, and all but the hardest puzzles can be solved using just a few techniques as presented by Dr. Kenneth Shook. You don't need any math and you don't need to guess. The only thing you have to know is what digits 1-9 look like. Sudoku is popular because you need to know so little to enjoy it. Attend one or both events to get up to speed on these fun puzzles.

Friday

Bagels with Babies: 10 a.m. For ages Birth-3. Join us for breakfast. Come in for an informal playgroup for babies, toddlers, and their caregivers. Enjoy bagels, orange juice, and adult conversation while the babies play. Refreshments will be served.

Saturday

Raptor Rendezvous: 10 a.m. For ages 3-Adults. Birds of prey are amazing creatures. Learn more about what makes a raptor a raptor as you meet different species of hawks and owls. Find out what adaptations make these animals so fascinating. Children age 3 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Work and Play on the Appalachian Trail - A Ridgerunner's Perspective: 2 p.m. For ages 13-Adults. Join Lauralee Bliss, Shenandoah National Park's Ridgerunner and author of Mountains, Madness, & Miracles - 4,000 Miles Along the Appalachian Trail, for an informative program on the role of a Ridgerunner within the park and tales of her 4,000 mile adventure along the famous Appalachian Trail. A Celebrating America program.

Affordable Care Act and Healthcare - Gotta Have It, Gonna Get It: 2 p.m. For Adults. Confused about your options for healthcare? We have the answers. Our trained professionals will be available to offer practical advice and free assistance for signing up for insurance that's right for you. Get help with eligibility, explore your different options and learn about the enrollment process. Information to bring about yourself and your household - Social Security Numbers, birth dates, employer and income information (for example pay stubs, W-2 forms, or last year's tax returns), policy numbers for any current health insurance, and information about job-related health insurance available.
