I'm Bill Niner and a candidate for Carroll County Commissioner in District 2. This includes Hampstead, Greenmount, Finksburg, Gamber, Smallwood, Snydersburg, and parts of Westminster.
I was born & raised in Carroll County and grew up working on my family's farm and learned early in life the value of hard work. I have volunteered for Congressman Roscoe Bartlett, Senator Larry Haines, Governor Bob Ehrlich, the Republican Central Committee, and on Presidential campaigns. I have been endorsed by Senator Larry Haines & Delegate Tanya Shewell who know that I have the energy & skills to lead our community.
As County Commissioner, I will work hard representing the people and making sure their voice is heard by preserving Carroll County values and views.
The first issue to tackle is "accessibility." I will make sure I am accessible to every citizen. I will represent the people and not lose sight of who I am working for. After all, I am working for the people! I will make time for anyone who wants to meet with me or they can always call me on my personal cell phone at (443)536-1408. This number will be printed on all of my materials. I will have convenient office hours that coincide with our citizens' schedules as I know everyone cannot see their elected official during normal business hours because they work, have family commitments, and overall a busy schedule.
Next, I will work to find ways to "lower taxes." I will work to keep peoples' hard earned money in their pockets! I'll work to find ways to lower taxes for individuals, families, small businesses, and for family farms. This can be done by working to ensure that there is a true balanced budget by using resources more efficiently and effectively. Having a true analysis of what resources come into the county government and what the true needs of the community are should determine how resources are used. Over taxing and increasing fees is not the way to help people in the community especially during tough economic times. Allowing people to keep more of their hard earned money will let them pay bills, help charities, and purchase locally such as taking their family out to a nice dinner on a Friday night. This will help stimulate the local economy. Bringing fiscal responsibility and accountability to Carroll County is important.
Protecting 2nd Amendment gun rights for protection and hunting. Citizens have a right to protect themselves and their families. Also citizens have the right to go hunting which for many families this is a way to put food on the table. This can be done by making sure laws are 2nd Amendment friendly and if they are not they should be repealed.
I will work to find solutions for our small businesses and family farms, which is the back bone of our community! There is too much red tape that deters businesses and famers from thriving and moving forward. Meeting with business leaders and farmers on a regular basis will provide a guiding light to solutions that are appropriate. Helping our family farmers preserve their family farm land so it can be passed onto to the next generation needs to be worked on. I will meet with local farmers to see what can help and utilize ag preservation techniques.
As Commissioner I will stand up against Common Core so our students have a great education to prepare them for the trades, college, military, or workforce - parents, teachers, students, and businesses should have a say in how we educate our students! Regular meetings with these groups as a whole will help us determine the best way to determine how to best educate our children. Nationalization of education is inappropriate as students need to be able to read, write, and to do math. I also believe in school choice where parents should be able to choose if their children go to public school, private school, or home schooled.
Finally, I would like to ask the community for their vote on Election Day! I have the energy, skills, and work ethic to serve and lead Carroll County as County Commissioner. So let's get on track with NINER FOR COMMISSIONER!
