Artist Joyce J. Scott will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday at McDaniel College's McDaniel Lounge. Known as the "Queen of Beadwork," her sculptural forms and neckpieces are provocative and confrontational, addressing contentious political and social issues, such as gender, race and class struggle.
Scott, a native of Baltimore, is a fiber artist, sculptor, jeweler, printmaker, performer and installation artist. She specializes in weaving, quilting, beadwork and glass. Her work is represented in the collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, National Museum of American Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
