The deadline for school system out-of-district applications and online renewals for next school year is Feb. 1, according to a Carroll County Public Schools news release.
Board policy states that students who attend Carroll County Public Schools shall attend school in their designated attendance area. In very specific and limited circumstances, however, students may be considered for placement outside of their attendance area. If approved, transportation is the parent's responsibility
Requests to renew an application for the 2014-15 school year will be made via an online renewal process. Those families will receive an email from the Student Services Department explaining the procedure to renew online. Renewing applicants who do not have a valid email on file at the school will be notified by mail.
New applicants should review the list of approvable criteria found on the back of the out-of-district application or online at
to determine if a student meets the criteria for approval. Applications are available online or at a school office. Carroll County Public Schools' out-of-district policy and regulation will be strictly adhered to in making decisions regarding admission of students to schools outside of their assigned attendance area, according to the news release.
The following schools are designated as under-populated for the 2014-2015 school year:
: Elmer Wolfe, Hampstead, Parr's Ridge, Robert Moton and Winfield
: Manchester Valley and North Carroll
The following schools are designated as open for the 2014-15 school year:
: Carrolltowne, Mechanicsville, Charles Carroll, Mt. Airy, Cranberry Station, Runnymede, Ebb Valley, Sandymount, Eldersburg, Spring Garden, Freedom, Taneytown, Friendship Valley, Westminster, Linton Springs, Winfield and Manchester
: East, Oklahoma Road, Mt. Airy, Shiloh, New Windsor, West and North Carroll
: Century, South Carroll, Francis Scott Key, Westminster, Liberty and Winters Mill
All other schools are designated as closed for the 2014-15 school year. New out-of-district requests submitted for placement to a closed school will be denied unless it meets the limited criteria for admission to a closed school.
The deadline for out-of-district applications for the 2014-15 school year is Feb. 1. New applications must be postmarked or personally delivered by the deadline date to: Carroll County Public Schools, Student Services Department - OOD, 125 N. Court St., Westminster, MD 21157.
