Etta Mae Armstrong, 75, of Sykesville, died Thursday morning, March 28, 2013.

Born March 24, 1938, in Meyersdale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Maude Spiker and Charles Swearman.

She graduated from Catonsville High School and received her nursing degree from Howard Community College. She worked for Springfield Hospital for more than 20 years, until her retirement.

She resided at Transitions Health Care from August 2012 until her death. She enjoyed animals, reading, going on walks, doing crafts and traveling.

Surviving are children Debbie Ballantine, Lee Armstrong, Kathy Cavey, Susan Armstrong and Charles Armstrong, and their families; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Swearman, of Hanover, Pa.; a sister, Arlene Rockwell, of Sykesville; and a friend, Rita Lamb, of Sykesville.

Per her wishes, her body was donated to the State Anatomy Board. There will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Transitions Health Care, 7309 Second Ave., Sykesville, MD 21784.
