Rolling Clovers plan exhibits for county fair

Rolling Clovers 4-H Club members determined their club entries for the Carroll County 4-H & FFA Fair at their May 6 meeting.

They will enter a banner, shoe box float and service-learning display as well as club books. Club members will have make it-take it crafts on Children's Day, July 30.

Marissa Roberts gave an illustrated talk on "Different Breeds of Dairy Animals" and Brooke Bowers gave an illustrated talk on "Pig Temperatures."

Allison Stoner showed and told members of her Angus steer. Kyle Dedmon and Austin Stoner showed and told of their pigs.

The meeting was called to order by the vice president, Autumn Lippy. Reports were given by Kyle Dedmon, Andy Stonesifer and Sandra Stonesifer.

At the Hope Floats Dressage Show, Gabrielle Hockensmith placed first in the Introduction Test B and second in the Introduction Test C. Allison Stoner placed 1st in the Training Level 1 Dressage Test.

At the Mason Dixon Miniature Horse Association Show, Gabrielle Hockensmith placed 1st in showmanship, pole bending, barrel racing, trail and jumper. She placed second in hunter, third in senior geldings and fifth in costume. Hannah Hockensmith placed first in jumper, second in hunter and trail, and fourth in pole bending.

Allison Stoner, Brooke Bowers, Tori Fromm, and Autumn and Amber Lippy participated in the Maryland 4-H Horse Triple Crown. In the Horse Judging, Allison was second high individual junior reasons, third high junior individual and member of the third-place team. Brooke was fifth high intermediate individual, 6th in performance, seventh in conference and member of the fourth-place team. Amber was 17th high senior individual and member of the second-place team. In the Horse Bowl, Allison was 14th high junior individual and member of the sixth-place team. In the Hippology Contest, Allison was second high junior individual and Amber was in the top 30 of the senior division. Tori placed sixth in the Senior Division of the Horse Bowl. Autumn placed 38th in the FFA Senior Division of Horse Judging and was a member of the ninth-place team.

Marissa Roberts was a member of second-place team at Maryland State Dairy Bowl.

Aluminum cans for recycling should be brought to the leader by June 28.

The second club trip will be to the mud bog at Kingsdale fire company on June 22.

A grapevine wreath workshop was held prior to the meeting. Participants were Gaby and Hannah Hockensmith, Jacquelyn Slade, Marissa Roberts and Allison Stoner.

The next meeting will be July 1 at Casey Bounds' home. The program will be a goat and sheep demonstration and pillar-caring. The service project will be school supplies for The Shepherd's Staff.
