When Cathy Klauca approached Loch Raven VA Community Living and Rehabilitation about doing something for the veterans and kids there, she was told that summertime is the time when their residents are forgotten.

"Everybody sees us around the holidays, but the kids are here for the rest of the year, the veterans are definitely here for the rest of the year and nobody remembers them then," Klauca said. "Veterans, they need items, because the families can't afford everything, so she gave me a list."

Klauca then gathered the items on the list including hygienic products like razors and shampoos and even entertainment like crossword puzzle books. Together with members of the Reisterstown Senior Center, Klauca packed more than 50 bags for the residents of Loch Raven, July 24.

Klauca said she is always looking for ways to help out, because it just gives a good feeling.

The ten bags designated for the women veterans were decorated with a bow, and inspiring quotes were stamped on the side of each bag.
