The Maryland Science Center will knock $1 off admission from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday for visitors bringing leftover jack-o'-lanterns to smash. Pumpkins will be flung down the center's four-story pumpkin launch tube to splatter the plaza below. The event is part of the center's First Friday program.
School of Rock will provide live music in the atrium lobby. Other activities include Candy Chromatography, in which visitors will discover color chemistry by separating molecules of dye in candy; building Li'l Pumpkin Catapults; and a demonstration of ghostly, smoke-filled bubbles. Visitors also will have access to the exhibit halls, planetarium show and IMAX film. Admission does not include the Mummies of the World exhibit.
Tickets are $8; free for members. The center is located at 601 Light Street, Baltimore. Call 410-685-2370 for more information.
