Sykesville Gate House Museum presents First Maryland Artillery CSA

On Sunday, Aug. 11, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., the Sykesville Gate House Museum will host re-enactors of the First Maryland Artillery of the Confederate States of America (CSA), the last of three events in the Museum's Summer Family Program. The First Maryland Artillery will bring a cannon to the Sykesville Gate House Museum and talk about life during the Civil War. The group will demonstrate the firing of the cannon and other weapons used during the "War Between the States."

In commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, the re-enactors will speak about the battles experienced by the First Maryland Artillery and the hardships experienced during the Civil War.

The program will be held in Millard Cooper Park, across from the Museum at 7283 Cooper Drive, Sykesville.

No registration is required. For more information, call the Museum at 410-549-5150 during regular hours (Thursdays and Fridays from 1-5 p.m., and Sundays from 1-4 p.m.), leave a message, or call Dr. Fraser at 443-974-5017.
