I have been a member of the NRA most of my life. I joined the NRA over 40 years ago after surviving a violent crime. My mother and I survived only because I was armed. Similar stories play out every day and are never reported. Powerful forces implementing plans to defame the NRA and disarm the average citizen do not want you to hear them.
The tragic shooting in Newtown shocked the nation. The aftermath of this shooting further reveals our deep divide. Most people are rightfully struggling with the causes of such horrific violence. Then there are those that see this tragedy as an opportunity to disarm the American citizen. They have drawn their swords, and are determined to cut off the head of the perceived perpetrator of all gun crimes, the NRA.
The media, including some Carroll County Times opinion writers, use terms like "angry white men," "NRA drones" and "the new KKK" in an effort to defame and diminish gun owners and the NRA. Powerful aristocracy like Mike Bloomberg and George Soros are spending vast fortunes to manipulate the public against the NRA while they are being protected 24/7 by security with automatic weapons. Ask yourself why?
Needless to say, destroy the NRA and the Second Amendment is finished. Gun control advocates are about confiscation and control over the average citizen. Do you want to take orders from a tyrant about what size soda you can buy? Read the history of Soros. His past should scare you. Bloomberg and Soros are all about being able to force their will on the public. An armed man cannot be coerced. You must reason with him or be forced to destroy him.
Laying the blame for the Newtown tragedy at the feet of the NRA is simply a distorted effort to destroy the NRA's reputation. I lay the blame for this tragedy directly at the feet of the shooter's mother. She violated a cardinal rule of firearms ownership: always secure your firearms. The proper use of one gun vault probably would have prevented this shooting. You are not going to hear this opinion in the media. The NRA has always been about the safe use of firearms. That includes training and secure storage.
Those of you prepared to toss the Second Amendment in the name of total security better think long and hard. World history is filled with mass murder and violent crime against an unarmed population. Too many of these atrocities were committed by a corrupt, ruling class.
