Jewish Community Services

received a Kovod Award for Excellence in Effective Use of Social Media from the Association of Jewish Family and Children's Agencies at its 40th Annual Conference in April in Houston. The award was given to JCS for its ifIknew.org multimedia prevention education project, which educates and raises awareness in teens and young adults about substance abuse, body image and eating disorders, bullying and healthy relationships, HIV/AIDS, media literacy, stress, and more. This is the second honor for ifIknew.org, which last year received the Challenge of Innovation Award from the Darrell D. Friedman Institute for Professional Development.

, at 1601 Nicodemus Road, hosts evening dog hikes on Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. The walk is about 1.5 miles. Walkers may bring their own dogs, or walk a shelter dog. Walks start in spring.
