OWINGS MILLS - Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that injured defensive lineman Terrence Cody is likely to miss this week's game against the Buffalo Bills but reiterated that the sprained knee Cody suffered Sunday against the Houston Texans isn't expected to sideline him for an extended period.
"It would be a stretch to expect him back this week," Harbaugh said. "We're going to try, but more likely it will be after this week coming up."
Cody's injury becomes more significant because of the other injuries Baltimore is dealing with along the defensive line.
At this point, the Ravens have just four healthy defensive linemen.
Defensive end Chris Canty may be able to return this week from the strained groin he suffered against the Cleveland Browns, but it's also possible that Baltimore could hold him out another week. And rookie Brandon Williams returned to practice last week from his toe injury, but he looks to be at least another week away from being able to play in a game.
If for some reason Canty, Cody and Williams are all unable to play and the Ravens don't add another defensive lineman, DeAngelo Tyson would be Baltimore's only backup behind Haloti Ngata, Arthur Jones and Marcus Spears, although outside linebacker Pernell McPhee is a former defensive lineman who could fill in if needed.
