Ravens release veteran CB Chris Johnson

OWINGS MILLS - The Ravens released veteran cornerback Chris Johnson Monday.
Johnson had missed significant time due to an undisclosed injury this summer and had struggled since returning to practice over the weekend, including during Sunday's practice at Stevenson University.
Johnson was signed by the Ravens in November and was active for six games last season, including one playoff game.
He re-signed with Baltimore during the offseason and entered training camp as the favorite to win the Ravens' fifth cornerback job.
With Johnson out of the mix now and Asa Jackson suspended for the first eight games of the season, seventh-round pick Marc Anthony and undrafted free agent Moe Lee will compete for that fifth corner job, although it's far from out of the question that the Ravens will add a cornerback at some point between now and the start of the regular season.
