College Roundup: Niumatalolo to speak at TD Club of Annapolis

NAVY FOOTBALL:

Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo will speak briefly at the annual Army-Navy game cocktail party, hosted by the Touchdown Club of Annapolis.

Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk will also say a few words while introducing Niumatalolo during the event, being held Wednesday (6:30 p.m.) at Pusser's Caribbean Grille in downtown Annapolis.

Touchdown Club members will be asked to pay their $35 annual dues at the door. Cocktails and heavy Hors d'oeuvres will be provided by the club.

NAVY MEN'S BASKETBALL:

Navy men's basketball point guard Tilman Dunbar was named the Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Dunbar had a career day in Navy's lone game last week, a 79-74 win over The Citadel.

Dunbar has also been selected as the NAAA Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 8.

Dunbar notched career-highs of 28 points and eight rebounds as Navy (5-3) won its third game in a row and its fifth out of its last six last Wednesday. Dunbar also had seven assists, two steals and one block.

Dunbar shot 7-of-12 from the floor and was 14-of-17 from the free throw line. The 14 made free throws are a career high and he made eight free throws in the final 74 seconds of the game to seal the win.

Navy will play at Bryant on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The game will be televised on the Ocean State Network on Cox Cable.

MARYLAND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:

Two-time All-American Alyssa Thomas picked up her third career triple-double to lead No. 8 Maryland past Siena, 105-49 at Comcast Center. Thomas, a candidate for National Player of the Year, finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and tied her career-high 11 assists in 29 minutes on the floor. Redshirt junior Laurin Mincy led the Terrapins (9-1) in scoring with a season-high 21 points off four 3-pointers.

UMBC MEN'S SOCCER:

Head men's soccer coach Pete Caringi, Jr. has been selected as the NSCAA Senior College Men's Northeast regional coach of the year. For the second time in his UMBC career, Caringi will now be a candidate for National Coach of the Year. The national ballot will be comprised of all eight regional coach of the year winners, as well as the final four coaches that did not garner recognition as a regional coach of the year.

G. WASHINGTON WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:

Freshman Caira Washington posted her second double-double in three games to lead GW to a 56-50 victory over Loyola.

TOWSON WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:

A strong second-half performance lifted the Tigers to a 76-56 win over LIU Brooklyn.

ST, MARY'S COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL:

Junior captain Nicholas LaGuerre poured in a season-best 24 points as the No. 12 Seahawks suffered their second loss of the season, dropping an 80-70 non-conference decision to DeSales.
