A. Lloyd Greene, 78, formerly of Carroll County

A. Lloyd Greene, 78, formerly of Carroll County, died Friday, April 4, 2014, at his home in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Born Dec. 28, 1935, in New Windsor, he was the son of the late Edith Burrier Greene and D. Paul Greene. He was the husband of Doris Pond Greene.

Before retiring, he worked 43 years for Sire Power as a technician and trainer across the United States and abroad. He received many awards throughout his career. He and his wife were the innkeepers at Bowling Brook, and he worked with his son on numerous jobs and fundraising events.

He was a life member of Westminster Elks Lodge No. 2277, Westminster Moose Lodge No. 1381, Littlestown Eagles, charter member of the Valley Lions Club and former member of Edgewood Church of the Brethren.

He enjoyed farming, gardening, traveling to Williamsburg, and John Deere collectibles. He enjoyed his new family and Yorkies in North Carolina.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law David E. Greene Sr. and wife Kathy, of New Windsor; daughters and sons-in-law Suzanne and Jeffery Dell, of Hanover, Pa., and Penny and Jeffrey Lessard, of Mount Airy, N.C.; grandchildren David E. Greene Jr., Stacey Hudson, Jennifer Perry, McKinley Dell and Adam Ledbetter; and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by an infant daughter; and brothers the Rev. D. Paul Greene and James A. Greene.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dan Ceary, of Linwood Brethren Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery near Linwood.
