I am writing to draw attention to a very important topic: United Nations Agenda 21 planning policy that is promoted by the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives.
Carroll County is fortunate to have Commissioner Richard Rothschild involved in resisting the overreaching government initiatives that stem from the United Nations.
The Carroll County Times and liberals attempt to ridicule Rothschild by manufacturing false assertions, known as straw men, that they then proceed to debunk. For example, they invent false speaking points about blue helmeted UN troops being poised to invade Carroll County. In reality, they attempt to marginalize Rothschild because he has arguably been more successful combating the progressive liberal agenda than any other conservative official in America today.
Rothschild actually said that policies promoted by the UN are incompatible with Americans' Fifth and 14th Amendment property rights and I believe he is 100 percent accurate. Ironically, while liberals mock Rothschild, his predictions are coming true. The recent septic law, increased flush taxes and rain tax are examples of ICLEI philosophies that steal property rights and assault the middle classes' ability to afford property ownership.
PlanMaryland and gun control laws have their roots in UN planning policy, and both of these actions by the state are inconsistent with the U.S. Constitution.
Rothschild was the first elected official in the United States to identify ICLEI planning policy as a threat to our freedoms due to its Marxist ideology. Carroll County was the first county in the United States to cancel its contract with ICLEI. Other municipalities now agree with Rothschild. Nationwide, more than 150 counties and towns, including Boston Ma. have terminated their ICLEI memberships. In fact, after a recent presentation by Rothschild in Harford County, County Executive David Craig dropped his membership in ICLEI.
It is the Democrats who are living in a world of pretend and deny. Rothschild has proven to be the modern day Paul Revere warning governments of the wolf in sheep's clothing whose harmful policies are promulgated in the name of saving the planet.
In a world where most politicians break their promises, Carroll County is fortunate to have a real conservative Republican who not only keeps his promises but also has the convictions to uphold his oath of office to defend the Constitution of the United States and protect our Fifth, 14th, and Second Amendment freedoms.
