Vernon L. Turnbaugh, 79, of McSherrystown, Pa.

Vernon L. Turnbaugh, 79, of McSherrystown, Pa., died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Hanover Hall Nursing Center.
He was the husband of Shirley M. (Steiner) Turnbaugh, his wife of 57 years.
Born May 23, 1934, in Maryland Line, he was the son of the late Ernest and Irene (Mays) Turnbaugh.
He was an auto mechanic for 55 years and retired as the owner-operator of Turnbaugh's Auto Repair in Hanover, Pa.. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover, McSherrystown Moose and the American Legion in Hanover. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Judy Krumbach and her husband Larry, of Hanover, David Turnbaugh, of Avondale, Ariz., Greg Turnbaugh of Littlestown, Pa., and Janet Groft and husband Mike, of Abbottstown, Pa.; siblings Ernest Turnbaugh Jr., of Monita, Va., and Nettie Bridges, of Hanover; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with a prayer service held at 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church, 5055 Grandview Road in Hanover, with the Rev. Msgr. James M. Lyons officiating. A burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover.
