James E. Hood, 73, of Taneytown

James Edward Hood, 73, of Taneytown, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Carroll Hospice Dove House.

Born March 28, 1939, in Smallwood, he was the son of the late Wilbur Thomas and Marie Gertrude Barber Hood. He was the husband of Nora K. Abrecht Hood, his wife of 51 years.

He was a tank assembler for BAE Systems, formerly BMY and United Defense, in York, Pa. He was a member of the Littlestown Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 2226 and the Taneytown American Legion Post No. 120.

He enjoyed going to car shows and owned a 1956 Chevy Bel Air. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and working outdoors.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and David Staccone, of Union Mills; siblings Delbert Hood, Robert Hood and Betty Cornett, all of Westminster, and Nancy Ward, of Finksburg; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Hood.

Funeral service and interment will be private.
