I read Dean Minnich's May 30 opinion column about the sanctuary county legislation that was passed recently. I would encourage him and everyone else to read the book "Lethal Laws - Gun Control is the Key to Genocide."
The book was written and compiled by three members of the group "Jews for the preservation of Firearms Ownership." The book contains the actual documents of the gun control legislation produced in the countries where eventual genocides took place. The book presents the reader with the historical evidence and the logical reasons why everyone should be involved as much as possible in preventing any type of gun control.
Our founding fathers were profoundly aware of this important aspect of life, and carefully chose the word "infringed" when writing the Second Amendment. The amendment was not written for self defense or hunting, but to try to protect the people from their own government.
Minnich wrote that average people with small arms would not be effective against a SWAT team or Seal Team 6, but history proves him wrong. Even current events in the Middle East prove that average people with small arms can overthrow the tyrants armed with the most advanced weapons. Syria is the latest example.
The Lethal Laws book has many insights, examples and reasons for everyone to oppose gun control. The plain truth is that to support gun control is to encourage murder.
