Carroll senators schedule town hall meeting on gun bill

The Carroll County Senate Delegation to the Maryland General Assembly will hold a town hall meeting Tuesday on Gov. Martin O'Malley's proposed gun control legislation.

The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. Feb. 26 and be held at the Best Western Hotel, located at 451 Best Western Drive in Westminster. The Senate delegation wants to have a town hall meeting as an opportunity for Carroll County citizens to provide their thoughts to the local delegation on the legislation, according to a prepared release.

Senators David Brinkley, Allan Kittleman and Joe Getty will provide opening comments and an update on the status of Senate Bill 281 in Annapolis. Attorney Mark Pennak will offer an analysis of Gov. Martin O'Malley's bill, according to a prepared release.

The public is invited to offer testimony on the bill. Testimony will be limited to 3 minutes per person. If people want to testify, preregistration is encouraged. To preregister, contact Amanda Miller by email at amiller@senate.state.md.us or by phone at 410-841-3683.
