Lisa Freeman, R.N., was recently presented with Carroll Hospital Center's October DAISY Award. A nurse at the hospital since 2011, Freeman was nominated by a patient for the exceptional care she provided her at the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine.
According to the patient, Freeman was kind and compassionate as she listened to the patient discuss the major issues she was having with her uncomfortable new wheelchair. Freeman went above and beyond her normal duties to assist the patient in any way she could. She even found some foam and used it to pad the wheelchair's leg rests to prevent the patient from experiencing any further injuries to her limbs.
"Lisa is an extraordinary nurse who truly exemplifies our hospital's SPIRIT values," Stephanie Reid, R.N., B.S.N., M.B.A., vice president of quality and chief nursing officer at Carroll Hospital Center, said. "Her great personality, warm smile and kindheartedness lifted this patient's spirits at a time when she needed it most."
Carroll Hospital Center's DAISY Award was created to honor outstanding health care professionals at the hospital. It is given to a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse each month to recognize their extraordinary efforts in delivering exceptional patient care.
