For the Birds: O's trying not to get swept by Halos

The Orioles will try to avoid a mini-series sweep against Los Angeles tonight at Camden Yards. They'll also try to avoid another dismal offensive performance.

The bats have gone a tad cold over the last 10 games - make that frozen - and the Angels go with Jered Weaver (7-1, 2.40 ERA).

I'm sure fans are getting tired of these stats, but they bear repeating:

-The Orioles are 2 for their last 41 with runners in scoring position.

-They've scored three runs or fewer in nine of their last 10 games.

-They're hitting .096 with RISP during that stretch.

-They're just bad at the plate right now. Fact.

But, the Birds give the ball to ace Jason Hammel tonight. He's 8-2 with a 2.61 ERA this season, which might lead to an all-star nod if he keeps it up going into the break.

Weaver hasn't had great success against the Orioles in recent years. He's 1-3 with a 5.55 ERA vs. Baltimore over the last five years.
