The Carroll Singers will present "Joy to the World, A Carol Celebration" at 7:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday at Westminster High School. The annual winter concert will be under the direction of Beverly Mauck.
Special guest Alison Davy will return to the auditorium of Westminster High School for the concert.
The coloratura soprano is a 1984 graduate of the high school and now works in New York as a professional soloist. Davy said she had fond memories of being on that stage at the beginning of her career and looks forward to filling the auditorium with music again. She said she performed in Westminster a couple of years ago and always enjoys the homecoming among her friends.
"It's a heartwarming experience to be back," Davy said. "Any anytime Beverly [Mauck] and I have a chance to work together, I grab it."
Davy said many of the group members were part of her musical and artistic development.
"They were very important in my life. These folks are near and dear to my heart," she said.
Davy has appeared internationally in opera and oratorio and has performed with Washington National Opera, Encompass Opera Theatre, Handel Choir of Baltimore, Centro Musica Antica in Italy, Parma Symphony Orchestra, Newark-Granville Symphony and the Choral Arts Society of Washington, D.C. outreach program. Davy was also a guest artist at Lincoln Center's Bruno Walter Auditorium and was selected to perform at the White House for President Clinton and the First Lady.
Group members Bob Bradford, Kym Thorpe, Alison Holiday and Pat Rucker will also perform as soloists at the winter concert.
