Ravens: Ravens sign suspended DT Ryan McBean

OWINGS MILLS -- The Baltimore Ravens signed former Denver Broncos defensive tackle Ryan McBean.

McBean, 28, was released by the Broncos following the NFL punishing him with a six-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy.

The Broncos withdrew his $1.272 million restricted free agent tender, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Denver signed former Ravens defensive lineman Justin Bannan, making McBean expendable in addition to being unavailable with his suspension.

Last year, McBean recorded four sacks and 33 tackles.

For his career, the 6-foot-5, 305-pounder from Oklahoma State has 77 tackles and one fumble recovery.

McBean started a career-high 14 starts in 2009.

Over the past week, the Ravens have signed McBean and veteran defensive lineman Ma'ake Kemoeatu.

Kemoeatu signed a one-year contract worth $825,000. Under the minimum salary benefit, his salary-cap figure is $540,000.
