Cocklin earns degree at seminary

The Rev. Joel W. Cocklin received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Winebrenner Theological Seminary in Findlay, Ohio, on Aug. 3.
Cocklin grew up in the Westminster area, graduating from Westminster High School with the Class of 1965. He graduated from the University of Findlay in 1969, and received his Master of Divinity degree from Winebrenner Theological Seminary in 1972.
He was ordained by the Church Of God General Conference. He served as a pastor for 10 years in New Cumberland, Pa., and then entered the Army as a chaplain, retiring from active duty in 2009 as a colonel.
While serving in the Army, he received a Master's in Family Therapy from Kansas State University and a master's degree from the Army War College in Carlisle, Pa.
He is the academic dean/vice president of Academic Advancement at Winebrenner Theological Seminary.
He is the husband of Kay Royer Cocklin, and son of the late Rev. Joel and Blanche Cock.
