Tausen receives American Legion award

Master Deputy Sheriff Mark Tausen, of the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, was selected Friday as honorable mention for the American Legion's National Law Enforcement Office of the Year award.

Tausen joined the sheriff's office in 1999 and prior to that served in the Baltimore County and Taneytown Police Departments.

"Master Deputy Mark Tausen's tireless commitment to community policing and crime prevention has secured the public safety and enhanced our local quality of life. His frequent foot and bicycle patrols have strengthened the partnerships between local law enforcement, residents, businesses and students, while serving as an example to his peers," Sheriff Kenneth Tregoning said in a news release.

Tausen lives with his wife and three children in Carroll.
