For The Birds: Davey's back

The Battle of the Beltways continues tonight at Camden Yards when the Orioles and Nationals face off in the first of a three-game series.

It's also the return of Nats manager Davey Johnson, who managed the Orioles in 1996 and 1997.

Baltimore's last winning season was 1997, when the O's went wire to wire, won the AL East and played in their second ALCS in as many years.

It'll be interesting to see and hear what kind of reception Johnson gets from the crowd tonight. I'd venture to say the majority of the fans will cheer, seeing as how their last link to a winning team ties in with Davey, a former Orioles star second baseman and World Series winner.

Jason Hammel (7-2, 2.87 ERA) is the scheduled starter for the Birds while Washington counters with Jordan Zimmermann (3-5, 2.92).

The Orioles are looking for some offense. They were swept by the New York Mets and managed only three runs in the three games with two shutout losses.
