Ruth Eva Sofinowski, 97, of Westminster, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, following a short stay at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.
Born Dec. 22, 1916, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Katie Brodowski Sofinowski. She was the wife of the late Jacob Sofinowski.
She was a member of Christ the King Missouri Synod Lutheran Church in Owings Mills and served on the Ladies Guild.
Surviving are children Jacob Sofinowski III and wife Joan, of Havre de Grace, Ruth Copenhaver, of New Windsor, Alan Sofinowski, of Hampstead, Patricia Pennington and husband Stanley Donald, of Manchester, Diane Thomas of North Carolina, Linda Sofinowski, of Westminster, and Charles Sofinowski, of North Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Sofinowski, of Walkersville; a sister, Emilie Taber, of Kansas; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Frank Sofinowski; a grandson, Michael Sofinowski; and siblings Natalie MacBlane, Olga Siewicki, and Emil and Edwin Sofinowski.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 515 Academy Ave., Owings Mills, with the Rev. Harry M. Krolus officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
