Greetings from the Community Times! I am so honored and excited to be the new editor of the Times. Before I jump into work, though, I wanted to take just a moment to introduce myself.
I am a Maryland native, and a graduate of Towson University with a BS in Mass Communications and English. For me, writing is a passion. I have long been fascinated by the ability of the written word to move and inspire readers. That said, I enjoy writing of any variety - I recently published a book of poetry, and I also write short stories - and am an avid reader.
In addition to working as the editor of the Times, I also work as a Program Assistant for the Boys and Girls Club of Frederick County. With my work schedule, I don't have much free time, but that's the way I prefer it. When I do have some downtime - and I'm not reading or writing - I can be found either in the kitchen working up some crazy baking recipes, or playing with my dog, Kona. Of course, priority time goes to the old-fashioned pen and paper.
But perhaps more important to me than any other form of writing is reporting the news and events of the community. Covering the Reisterstown/Glyndon/Owings Mills areas in the Times means bringing the vast array of goings-on right to your fingertips. It means making the area's news accessible, whether it be through the newspaper or the website.
As the new editor of the Community Times, I plan to continue to bring your community events and news to you, while also including your voices. Each reader brings a unique background, and each can contribute different ideas. I would love to hear what you have to say. Maybe you took a picture of something that you feel affects others in the area. Perhaps you know about an event that your fellow community members would be interested in attending. Or maybe you have a strong opinion about some decisions made by your local legislators. It could be that you just want to write about your reaction to something you read about in the Times. Whatever it is, feel free to send in your thoughts.
I am so excited to embark on this journey as the new editor of the Community Times. I look forward to reporting the news and events that matter most to you, and hope to continue to make the Times a paper you enjoy and look forward to perusing.
