Christine R. Aler, 78, formerly of Rodgers Forge

Christine Roberts Aler, 78, formerly of Rodgers Forge in Towson, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Bethania Home Care in Westminster.

Born June 2, 1935, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Rev. William Christian Roberts and Ruth Lauster Roberts. She was the wife of Charles B. Aler, who died in 1987.

He was a 1953 Towson High graduate, and a 1957 State Teachers College graduate. She was noted often in her school yearbooks as being "the cutest and sweetest girl." She taught kindergarten at Waverly Elementary, next to Memorial Stadium for many years and later taught pre-school at St. David's Nursery School and Rodgers Forge Children's Center.

Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Thomason-McGuigan, of York, Pa.; a son, Charles B. Aler Jr., of Westminster; siblings Pere Roberts, of Chestertown, Libby Lundvall, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, and Ruth Roberts, of Towson; and grandchildren Ryan, Samantha, Paul, Haley and Molly.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mario Conliffe, of St. George's Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. George's Episcopal Church, 2434 Cape Horn Road, Hampstead, MD 21074.
