RACE: 25-lap 358 Sprint Feature

WINNER: Brad McClelland, Westminster

RACE NOTES: Brad McClelland started fifth and was challenging Robbie Kendall for second when Kendall's car lost a drive shaft and McClelland ran up over the fuel tank of Kendall on the front stretch as the cars were passing under the flag stand. McClelland's front wheels were actually in the cockpit of Kendall's car from the middle of the front stretch to the first turn, but McClelland dropped off Kendall's car and never stopped. Kendall came to stop in turns one and two, bringing out the event's only caution flag, and McClelland was placed second for the restart. It took McClelland less than a lap and-a- half to drive around outside front row starter and race-long leader Jeff Halligan in turn two of lap 17. From there he drove away from the rest of the field for his 35th career win at Trail-Way "358" sprint car win.Halligan finished second, polesitter Dwight Leppo was third, Cody Fletcher fourth and Randy Whisler fifth.

WILLIAMS GROVE SPEEDWAY

DATE: May 2

RACE: 25-lap 410 Super Sprint

WINNER: Danny Dietrich, Aspers, Pa.

RACE NOTES: Austin Hogue grabbed the lead at the drop of the green with Ryan Wilson in tow. The first seven laps went non-stop before a caution slowed the pace for a spin in turn four.

It took three attempts at the restart before one more lap was completed and another yellow flag bunched the field.

The final 17 laps clicked off when action resumed with Wilson applying heavy pressure for control on the restart. Wilson kept going high around the speedway until he finally pulled off a pass of Hogue using the rough cushion in the second turn on lap 12. But following him quickly into second was Danny Dietrich a lap later. Wilson was flying high for the next several laps, outdistancing Dietrich easily until the rear of the field came into play with seven laps to go. It was then that the backmarker of Brock Zearfoss was in the line of Wilson's race that forced him off of his rhythm and that's all it took for Dietrich to pounce, also with a second turn move. Dietrich pulled away to his eighth career win at the Grove, which matches his father Dan on the oval's all-time win list. Wilson finished second, Mark Smith third, Dewease fourth and Hogue fifth. The win was Dietrich's first of the season at the Grove.

RACE NOTES: Second-place Colby Womer powered into the lead at the drop of the green. Womer was chased by polesitter Cody Keller. The race's first caution came out on lap four

when Scott Lutz's car stopped on the backstretch

. When the race resumes, Keller challenged Womer for the lead and made a successful pass using the inside lane in turn two on lap five. A lap later, eighth-place starter Mark Smith advanced to second. At the halfway point, Keller had a strong lead over Smith until his car lost power on the front stretch. Smith inherited the lead with Womer, seventh-place starter Pat Cannon, fifth-place starter Ryan Kissinger and 12th-place starter Davie Franek competing in the top five. Then the red flag stopped the race on lap 13 when Matt Horst and Mark Bittner crashed in turn two. Both drivers escaped injury. On the restart, Smith opened up a lead while an intense battle for second unfolded for second between Womer and Cannon. A wheel-to-wheel race also unfolded for the fourth position between fourth-place starter Jason Shultz and 11th-place starter Davie Franek. Cannon took over second when Womer's car bobbled in turn four on lap 22. With two laps remaining, Franek stormed into third. Smith was victorious by 2.5 seconds over Cannon. Franek took third, Jason Shultz fourth and Womer fifth. Smith earned $2,000 for his seventh win at Selinsgrove.
