When the Westminster Kiwanis Club met May 1 at Wakefield Valley Golf and Conference Center, students from Westminster High School and Winters Mill High School were honored for their academic and community achievements.
Sam Owings, of Westminster High School, was chosen by the Guidance Department. Owings will attend Towson University, majoring in computer science.
Noel Jones, also of Westminster High School, was selected by the English Department. Jones, who mentors students with learning challenges, will attend Hood College with an English major.
Emily Means, of Winters Mill High School, was selected by the Special Education Department. Means also studied at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center, and completed the graphic design classes. She will pursue a business in photography.
Joshua Bussiere, also of Winters Mill High School, was chosen by the Arts, Humanities and Communications Academy. He will begin studies at Carroll Community College.
Honored from Winters Mill High School but unable to attend were: Ericka Davis, chosen by the Health, Human and Social Sciences Academy, and Zacharias Stuart, chosen by the Business Information Management Academy.
