Veterans of Foreign Wars

Lt. Peter G. Zouck, Post 521 recently hosted for its members and their families an enjoyable July 4 Independence Day cookout!

Bill Miller, post commander, was the top notch fab "head chef". Assisting Bill were Eddie Matheson and Ray Barker, with generous delicious desserts donated from it's auxiliary.

Chatted with Richard Udoff, top notch ultra respected past post commander 521 plus he also had multiple other leadership positions over his many years membership in VFW Post 521. He was also Captain VFW National Honor Guard. Plus, several years ago, Richard was the prestigious Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander Maryland District 7. Richard was the very first Jewish Commander in 50 years to represent VFW Maryland District 7!

Richard was also Commander Jewish War Veterans Maryland Free State Post #167. A humble veteran, Richard is very respected by "all war veterans!"

Spoke with Ed Matheson, a past very involved Post #521 Commander. Ed in 2009 had the prestigious title, "All American Post Commander VFW, in 70 years! This was quite an accomplishment!

Spoke also with Bill DePuey, dedicated hospital chairman Post 521. Bill and approximately six or seven members of this Post visit eleven months a year, veterans that are patients at Greene Street, 3rd to 6th floors and at Loch Raven Rehab.

This veteran hospital committee generously distribute to the vets ice cream, puddings and cookies for their enjoyment plus $50 cash to play Bingo! A check is also mailed monthly to veterans at Perry Point.

Bill and his committee have been visiting these infirmed veterans for the past seven years! You are to be commended for "caring"!

Thanks Bill! You and your committee have done a great job of visiting these infirmed vets.

Note: Happy 50th half-century anniversary to you and your charming wife Pat! Best wishes for many, many more wonderful anniversaries with good health and happiness!
