On Sept. 19 from 7 9 p.m., in its ongoing commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War, the Sykesville Gate House Museum will present "The Story of Lincoln's Assassin: John Wilkes Booth," a talk by local journalist and historian Bob Allen.
On April 15, 1865, a famous stage actor named John Wilkes Booth shot and killed President Abraham Lincoln as he and his wife were watching a play at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. Who was this man and what drove him to this violent, history-changing act? Bob Allen will discuss the biography of Booth and the history and politics behind Lincoln's assassination.
