Music will fill the air at Calvary Baptist Church, in Taylorsville, during two upcoming programs.

The first event, at 6 p.m. Sunday, is an Easter cantata titled "Once Upon a Tree" by Pepper Choplin. The program will be presented by Calvary's choir members. Guests are invited to enjoy refreshments and fellowship afterward.

The second performance is at 7 p.m. Tuesday and features the Woodwind Ensemble and Flute Choir from Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C.

According to a press release from the university, the Woodwind Ensemble was founded in 1972, and contains all the major families of woodwind instruments normally associated with a symphonic band: flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone and bassoon. The Woodwind Ensemble performs regularly on campus in recitals and in various sacred programs. The Flute Choir, founded in 1976, consists of several instruments from the flute family: the standard C flute, the piccolo, and the alto and bass flutes.

The community is invited to enjoy both of these free programs.

Calvary Baptist Church was originally on West Old Liberty Road, in Winfield, and was considerably smaller than its new home on Ridge Road.

Senior Pastor Tim Leaman wrote in an email, "Our new facility on 3200 Ridge Road was built in order to reach more people in our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ. In 2003, we made more room for our guests by providing two morning worship services. However, by 2009 both services were full and we implemented a video overflow room. It became clear that this arrangement would not allow us to expand further. Therefore, after much prayer and planning we purchased land at our present location and began construction in September of 2011. Our opening service was on June 17, 2012. It has been a great blessing to see hundreds of new people from our community come and visit our church."
