John E. Shockney, 74, of Westminster

John "Jack" Edwin Shockney, 74, of Westminster, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at his home in Westminster.

Born Feb. 27, 1938, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Vernon William and Anne Mildred Torney Shockney. He was the husband of Mabel Marie Shockney, whom he was together with for 18 years and was married to for 13 years, and the husband of late Maria Molica Shockney.

He was a veteran of the Navy serving from 1955 to 1959. He was a salesman for Schmidt Blue Ribbon. He was a football fan and enjoyed golf, traveling and watching T.V.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children and spouses John Edwin Shockney II, of Westminster; Maria Shockney Jenkins and Jay Jenkins, of Elloree, S.C.; Tony and Margaret Shockney, of Charles Town, W.Va.; David and Susan Martz, of Pewaukee, Wis.; brothers and sisters-in-law Albert and Lillie Shockney, of Reisterstown; and Dennis and Ginny Shockney of Arbutus; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday from at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Howard Miller officiating. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville.
